I had limited time to hike and I was driving a sedan. I studied the maps to find something with car access and that wouldn't take long to ascend. I found Peak 6682 on the map near Beaver Creek Summit. I would later find out that this peak is named Stargaze Point and sits very near the Stargaze Yurt (utilizing the same road).

I made the drive to Beaver Creek Summit and located the trailhead (road 394B). I followed the road to the saddle between the yurt and the peak. Here, one fork of the road heads up to the yurt and the other starts traversing right across the face of the peak. Stay on the road as it traverses. Eventually the road dies out into a trail and then climbs up the west side of the peak. There is a sign on top of the peak identifying it as Stargaze Point.

Views from the peak are pretty good considering it is such a easy walk.

I visited the yurt on the way back, which has a great observation deck with a unfettered view of Steel Mountain and quite a chunk of mountain and forest.

Take ID 21 past Idaho City to Beaver Creek Summit. Park in the large parking area at the summit.

After parking at Beaver Creek Summit. Walk the road north about 100 feet and find forest road 394B. Follow the road to the 6480' saddle between the Stargaze Point and Stargaze Yurt. Follow the right branch of the road as it traverses west across Stargaze Point, then eventually climbs the west slopes of the peak to the summit. The trail gets faint near the end, but the terrain is open... go up :-) A sign lets you know when you are at the summit.
