I got off work and immediately changed and headed out to Ohio Gulch. I followed the plowed road to its end. I was heading to the top of Barite Peak (Peak 6702) I put on my snowshoes and started heading up the beaten path (snowbound road) between Ohio Gulch and Indian Creek. When I reached the saddle, I turned west toward Point 6215. The snow was really nice to this point. However, I was now looking up at a fairly steep section on the ridge up to Point 6591. With high avalanche danger and cross loading from the previous storms, I didn't like the ridge, so I traversed to its left on the south facing slopes that were blown mostly clear of snow. I then hit the top of Point 6591. After a small drop to the saddle between Barite Peak and Point 6591, I was headed up the windblown and narrow ridge to the summit. This climb looks simple on the topo, with not a lot of mileage or gain. However, some of the snow was trickier than I thought and a few places were very wind blown and hard to snowshoe on.

The summit had great views of the Wood River Valley and even the surrounding peaks. I enjoyed the cool, but clear evening and then started down. I made it down by 7pm and still had over an hour of light to go scout more climbs!

Drive to the end of the plowed road in Ohio Gulch (just past the entrance to the dump).

From the end of the road I headed east a bit, then south, then gained the east ridge and followed it to the summit.
