Report:
I was heading to northern California (Folsom to be exact) for a softball tournament and decided to checkout and decided to look and see if there were any nearby county highpoints I could bag while there. The highpoint of Sacramento County look near. When I Googled the directions from the hotel it was only 7 miles away. So I HAD to do it.

The highpoint of Sacramento County is the lowest highpoint of all California counties at 828 feet. This would be my 3rd California highpoint (Mount Whitney got me 2 county highpoints), but would the lowest peak I had ever climbed. That is the opposite of the other California highpoint I had done, Mt. Whitney, which was the highest peak I had ever climbed.

We arrived at the hotel a bit earlier than planned, so on a Friday afternoon I was off to bag the highpoint. I followed numerous sets of directions and ended up parking near an open gate high in a sub-division high on Carpenter Hill. I walked through the gate on a paved bike path and after a half a mile stroll and gain of about 200 feet, I was on top. I know, lame hike statistically. However, the views were tremendous. You could see downtown Sacramento from the top, as well as some larger peaks to the east in the Sierra Nevada range. It was actually fun taking in the views from the top and I hung out for 15 minutes before heading down.
